AVIARIUM
Todo empezó con un pequeño pájaro posado sobre un alambre, al que le quise poner un traje de colores. Después llegaron más, todos diferentes. Entraron por el ventanal de mi estudio como imágenes voladoras, y yo me puse a jugar con ellos para atraparlos y hacerlos escultura.
Lentamente, la figura del ave ha ido encadenando nuevas formas para crear su propio Aviarium, un mundo singular de pájaros y de colores que he ido imaginando con la pasión del escultor que juega a ser niño.
Esta pajarera de esculturas que presento es una secuencia lúdica de mi reciente obra animalística, aunque, en esta serie, he concentrado todo mi trabajo en el mundo de las aves para imaginarlas ingrávidas y voladoras; solitarias, vigilantes y multicolores. Todas ellas nacen con alma de hierro y duro cuerpo de argamasa que se va cubriendo con el plumaje policromado del papel de cómic. Es entonces cuando aquel pequeño pájaro, o el gallo, o el loro se muestran como un caótico y coloreado mosaico de pinceladas de papel, donde se mezclan personajes y mitos, donde los monstruos conviven con el héroe invencible.
Abrirle las alas a un ave para que levante el vuelo, hacer ingrávido el cuerpo inerte de un pájaro o inventarle cien colores a un gorrión solitario, ha sido una experiencia enriquecedora que me confirma que la escultura es pasión y fuerza, pero también ternura y fantasía.

It all started with a small bird perched on a wire, to which I wanted to put a colorful suit . Later more arrived, all different . They entered through the window of my studio as flying images, and I started playing with them to catch them and turn them into sculptures.
Slowly, the figure of the bird has been inspirating in new ways to create its own Aviarium, a unique world of birds and colors that I have imagining with the passion of the sculptor who plays at being a child.
This aviary of sculptures that I present is a playful sequence of my recent animalistic work, although, in this series, I have concentrated all my work in the world of birds to imagine them weightless and flying; lonely, vigilant and multicolored. All of them are born with an iron soul and a hard mortar body that is covered with the polychrome plumage of the comic paper. It is then when that little bird, or the rooster, or the parrot are shown as a chaotic and colored mosaic of paper brushstrokes, where characters and myths are mixed, where the monsters live with the invincible hero.
Opening the wings of a bird to lift the flight, render the inert body of a bird weightless or invent a hundred colors for a solitary sparrow, has been an enriching experience that confirms me that sculpture is not only passion and strength, but also tenderness and fantasy
